The Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU) verified a video that apparently shows Amit Shah, India’s Home Minister, declaring that Pakistan’s fall will follow Iran’s collapse and lead to the creation of undivided India and undivided Israel. After putting the video through A.I. detection tools and getting our expert partners to weigh in, we were able to conclude that the video was manipulated with synthetic audio.
The 43-second video in Hindi was discovered by the DAU during social media monitoring. It was embedded in a post on X, formerly Twitter. The account which posted the video goes by the display name of “Aly” followed by graphical representations of multiple national flags, and a display picture of a man playing polo. The profile details indicate that the account is associated with someone who identifies as a “barrister”, “polo player” and mentions U.K., Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan for location.
The text with the video, in English, reads: “Breaking. Amit Shah explodes in the Indian Parliament, ‘Whatever India has done or not done, does not matter because Pakistan is supposed to be a part of India. If Pakistan gets successful in mediation, it’s ultimately a win for India’”.
We do not have any evidence to suggest if the suspicious video originated from any account on X or elsewhere.
Mr. Shah’s purported video opens with him in a medium shot, apparently speaking from the floor of the Lok Sabha. The seating arrangement and the people around him, including Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, offer hints about the location. Shah appears to be standing, holding a set of papers which he seems to be reading from frequently as he looks in front and around.
Cutaways of several parliamentarians seated in the Lok Sabha are part of Shah’s video track. A logo resembling that of Sansad TV, an Indian channel that broadcasts proceedings of the Indian Parliament, appears in the top-left corner of the video frame—alternating between English and Hindi versions with “1 HD” visible next to it. The word “live” in bold can be seen in the top-right corner of the frame.
An arrangement of text graphics alternating between Hindi and English can be seen in the lower part of the video frame. Shah’s name, designation appear at the top, below that the Lok Sabha speaker’s name and that he’s “in the chair” can be read. And further down, “Lok Sabha” is visible in the bottom-left corner and a digital representation of time: “18:06”—“18:07” and date: “30/3/3026” can be seen in the bottom-right corner.
A ticker, which runs between the supposed date, time, and location seems to highlight the topics apparently being debated during the “budget session” in the lower house of the Indian Parliament. A thumbnail image of Shah can be seen in the extreme lower-right corner of the video frame.
The overall video quality is good. The lip movements of the purported speaker align fairly well with the audio track. However, in the initial few seconds as he appears to turn his head toward his left, his lips seem to distort and simultaneously an unnatural wrinkle appears on the nose of a parliamentarian sitting behind him. This oddity is a likely sign of visual manipulation.
His teeth seem to hang loose inside his mouth as he appears to speak; and also seem to change shape, disappear and reappear between frames. His lower set of teeth appear to meld into his lower lip across various frames. The portion from his chin to his throat seems to blur, his beard appears to unnaturally elongate and overlap with his collar.
We compared the voice attributed to Shah with his recorded speeches and interviews available online. The diction and accent sound similar but the intonation and tempo of the speech vary between the two voices. His characteristic delivery is slower, with a certain cadence as opposed to what is heard in the audio track, which sounds somewhat scripted and robotic. There’s an echo accompanying the voice in the video track.
We undertook a reverse image search using screenshots from the video and traced Shah’s clip to this video published on March 30, 2026 from his official YouTube channel.
The clothing, backdrop, and body language of Shah are identical in the video we reviewed and the one we traced. The audio in both the videos is in Hindi but the content is different.
The source video has logos of Sansad TV, graphics, and a ticker as well as a thumbnail image of Shah. The positioning of these elements is identical in the doctored video, which carries a smaller thumbnail image though.
The duration of the source video is long with several cutaways and wide shots of parliamentarians seated. The cutaways from the manipulated video could be traced to this video. However, the sequence of the cutaways is not the same in the two videos, which indicates that short clips from the source video have been stitched together to create the doctored video.
The audio track in Shah’s source video has ambient sounds ranging from clapping, shouting, coughing, but it does not have the echo that can be heard in the manipulated video. There are no visual anomalies in the source video but for a slight blur between Shah’s chin and throat perhaps due to the lighting; but it does not create the same visual effect as observed in the doctored video.
We recently debunked another video, which apparently features Prime Minister Narendra Modi and uses similar language to spin a narrative about the creation of “undivided India” and “greater Israel”.
Shared below is a table that compares the English translation of the speech in Shah’s manipulated video and the transcript of the audio in Mr. Modi’s manipulated video. We want to give our readers a sense of how the audio tracks are being used to peddle a certain narrative. We, of course, do not intend to give any oxygen to the bad actors behind this content.

To discern the extent of A.I. manipulation in the video we reviewed, we put it through A.I. detection tools.
The voice tool of Hiya, a company that specialises in artificial intelligence solutions for voice safety, indicated that there is a 67 percent probability that the audio track in the video supposedly featuring Shah was modified or generated using A.I.

Hive AI’s deepfake video detection tool did not highlight any markers of A.I. manipulation in the video track. Their audio detection tool indicated that the entire audio track is “not A.I.-generated”.

We ran the audio track through the advanced audio deepfake detection engine of Aurigin.ai, a Swiss deeptech company. The results indicated 93 percent confidence in the audio track being authentic.

We also put the audio track through the A.I. speech classifier of ElevenLabs, a company specialising in voice A.I. research and deployment. The results that returned indicated that it is “very unlikely” that the audio track used in the video was generated using their platform. A further analysis by the team also could not conclusively determine whether the audio track originated from their platform.
To get an analysis on the video we reached out to Contrails AI, a Bangalore-based startup with its own A.I. tools for detection of audio and video spoofs. The team ran the video through audio and video detection models. The results that returned indicated manipulation in the video track and the audio track.
The team stated that the frames have clear signs of A.I. manipulation, a lip-sync technique has been used in the video track. Their models detected A.I. generation with high confidence in the audio and pointed to the use of voice cloning method.

To get further expert analysis on the video, we escalated it to the Global Online Deepfake Detection System (GODDS), a detection system set up by Northwestern University’s Security & AI Lab (NSAIL). The video was analysed by two human analysts and run through 22 deepfake detection algorithms for video analysis; and 70 deepfake detection algorithms for audio analysis.
Of the 22 predictive models, 13 gave a higher probability of the video being fake and the remaining nine gave a lower probability of the video being fake. Of the 70 predictive models, 63 gave a higher probability of the audio being fake, while the remaining seven gave a lower probability of the audio being fake.
In their report, the team noted several time codes where as the subject speaks his teeth seem to change shape and often appear blurry. They also pointed out that in various frames, the subject's eyes blur into his glasses as he moves.
They highlighted that throughout the video the subject’s jaw seems to move in an exaggerated manner, almost appearing puppet-like. They added that the subject’s beard appears blurry throughout the video, despite the rest of his appearance remaining mostly clear.
They also noted that the subject’s voice seems to lack natural tonal and cadence variations characteristic of human voices, corroborating our observations on the same. In conclusion, the team stated that the video is likely manipulated via artificial intelligence.
On the basis of our observations and expert analyses, we can conclude that the video is fabricated. An A.I.-generated audio clip was used with Shah’s visuals to peddle a false narrative about Shah declaring that the fall of Iran, Pakistan will lead to the creation of undivided India and undivided Israel.
